So i know this is a little late but i have been extremely busy with classes because i have spring break next week. so excited going to NYC and Aruba, but now back to SAB. I have gone on a huge rant on my opinion of the episode both positive and negative.
this is just appalling…i went to a round table discussion today as part of Deaf Awareness Week at UVM the person in charge of the discussion showed us this at the beginning of it to get us talking.

I get three feelings:
1:
Happiness.
That portrays Deaf culture accurately(at least, so far). That shows the frustration of Deaf people and families of Deaf with the hearing world’s flawed perception of them. It’s also one of the only shows that is actually worth watching on TV.
2:
Extreme Annoyance.
The way that the Kinnish family wants to “fix” Daphne and not let Emmett drive, etc etc etc.
The way that Bay reacted at first to everything. The way that Mr and Mrs. Kinnish “don’t like” Daphne being Deaf, acting like its a problem to be fixed.
“THE DEAF CAN DO ALL THINGS BUT HEAR.”

Annoyance/Extreme pleasure that I found a new show to obsess over and follow avidly!
